Born from the Love and the Respect for the Music of Dire Straits, the DSL | Dire Straits Legacy project puts together again on stage some of the artists who made unique the legendary sound of the British Band, together with World top Class Musicians.
The idea of the DSL | Dire Straits Legacy is to bring together the members of Dire Straits who made those iconic records so they can bring the music to the fans, and since We4Show became involved in 2013, the following members of Dire Straits have joined us: John Illsley, Phil Palmer, Alan Clark, Mel Collins, Jack Sonni, Danny Cummings, Pick Withers and Chris White.
The Show provides the Dire Straits’ greatest and most iconic hits, new songs from the album “3 Chord Trick” produced by Alan Clark and Phil Palmer and some more surprises…
Grammy Award winner and Rock’n’roll Hall of Fame member, Alan Clark joined Dire Straits in 1980 as main keyboard player. He has been a Dire Straits member until the band breakup in 1992 and co-produced the album “On Every Street”. He has played and recorded with a long list of other artists, was a member of Eric Clapton’s band and was Tina Turner’s musical director for several years. More recently, he produced, with Phil Palmer, the stunning 3 Chord Trick album by Legacy.
Phil Palmer joined Dire Straits in 1990 and played on the band’s On Every Street record and world tour. He is one of the world’s top session guitarists, having played on more than 450 albums and toured with a list of some the world’s greatest artists; think of a name and Phil has probably played with that artist. He was also a member of Eric Clapton’s band, which is where he met his DS Legacy colleagues Alan Clark and Steve Ferrone, and is a founding member of DSLegacy.
Trevor Horn is a true legend in the music industry. After forming The Buggles and recording the chart topping 1979 hit “Video Killed the Radio Star”, Trevor went on to produce some of the most recognizable anthems that defined the Eighties, including ABC’s “Lexicon of Love”, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s number one hits “Relax”, “Two Tribes” and “The Power of Love”.Trevor went on to produce hits for Tina Turner, Tom Jones, Marc Almond, Barry Manilow, Cher, Boyzone, 10cc, Bryan Ferry, John Legend, Lisa Stansfield, Robbie Williams, Grace Jones, Simple Minds and many others.
Mel joined Dire Straits in 1982 and played on the Love over Gold album and tour, and the Twisting by the Pool. He’s also played with a huge list of artists/bands including the Stones, Camel, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Tears for Fears and many more, and as an original member of King Crimson, is currently doing a world tour with the band
Danny joined Dire Straits as their percussionist in 1990 and played on the On Every Street album and tour. Outside of Dire Straits, he has worked with many great artists including Tina Turner, George Michael, Bryan Adams, Pino Daniele, and was the drummer in Mark Knopfler’s band for several years.
Dire Straits guitarist on the album “Brothers In Arms” and the following World Tour, Jack Sonni has always lived music with enthusiasm and spontaneity, really unique in his way. He has been playing in every corner of the United States with countless amounts of Top musicians, always animated by passion and by a rock attitude par excellence.
PRIMIANO DI BIASE
Primiano is a sought after, gifted keyboard player who has played on many records and with many artists including Richard Bennett, Steve Phillips, Gigi Proietti, Neri Marcorè.
In love with the music of Dire Straits and his musical mentor Mark Knopfler, Rome-born Marco formed the band Solid Rock in 1988, and in 1990 toured with the legendary bluesman of the Notting Hillbillies, Steve Phillips. But his dream was to play with his Dire Straits “heroes”, and that dream became a reality in 2010 with the DS legends, and now again with the fantastic line-up that is the DSLegacy.
